Hello everyone.
This group is for post grad students and other mature age students at UQ looking to connect to others socially outside of Uni. I feel like most groups represented at Market Day are geared towards undergrads. I'm social too darn it! I've spoken to a few other post grads who are interested in connecting to others socially. This group is being set up to encourage postgrads and mature age students to connect and come up with activities to do together. Ideas welcome. Some possibilities are karaoke or trivia nights, group dinners, cooking groups, bowling.... anything!
Hi Jess
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to know who the social butterflies are! You might like to also connect with Sylvia - she's keen to do something social for the last day of our class. Sounds like you'd be a perfect partner in crime!
Good luck with this project Jess - it's a great start.
I love the photo by the way!

ReplyDeleteHi Jess,
ReplyDeleteThe post grad group looks like fun project to develop.
I have come across a study that also highlighted a futher positive benefits from such a group. The connection of the students formed as a place to check, challenge, discuss and develop ideas.Certainly as we go off into the big wide social work world this is definately a safety and support network that we need.
'This study generated an inventory of dialogue civic outcomes which details impacts from dialogue articulated as 29 themes over the five domains of cognitions, behaviors, attitudes, and skills, as well as hopes and plans for the future'(Diaz, Andrea N., Ph.D., Fielding Graduate University, 2009).
