Facebook Group

I've created a Facebook group. It's barely functioning yet, but it'll get there. I'll put up another post when it's a bit better. The group is called "UQ Post Grad Group". Imagine that! :) I know that not everyone is a Facebook junkie.

Does anyone know of any other online forums that might reach a different audience?

  1. Hey Jess,
Just checking in with how the project is going so far. I know that I have not been helpful and signed up with my face book etc.
I have only just got around to connecting and letting two friends become friends with me. Still have not prgressed my facebook to mean anything just yet. It is on my plans - the weekend ones when I am no longer doing assignments though.
Is there any way it can flip to peoples email accounts- I know that I find if it pops up here I am more likely to respond as it is not another medium I have to check ,just see and link accross to?

  2. Jess, I can appreciate you see facebook as a not so reputable forum (I'm sick of the whole addictive fad!) but it is a great platform to access a wide spread people in your target group age-group. Just a tip, for this exercise, it may however be better to set up a fan-page not a group - it then easier to join this to your blog and you'll get updates each week regarding number of views, how many people signed up, it'll link comments on facebook to your blog and bog to your facebook. Just a better way to join the 2 platforms. Just a thought!

  3. Hi Jess, it will be good if you put the name of your facebook group in the blog here too. Your project reminds me a group/service in UQ for mature students (anyone over 23 or 25) under student service. It is like a low profile self-help group but it organises regular gatherings. You can check it out from the student service office near the main reflectory and consider working together with it. All the best to your work.

  4. Thanks for all of your suggestions everyone. I had never heard of that group Ada. I'll look into it. The group is called UQ post grad group. Let me know if you have any troubles finding it.
